Kinward
// short documentary series
Kinward means ‘towards better relations’, or ‘forwards together’. This documentary series shares positive stories of connection, between people and between people and the living world.
At a time of planetary crises, exponential technologies and unprecedented inequalities between people, Kinward shares the inspiring ideas and stories that chart a different, more hopeful course: celebrating the awesome ecology of Earth and how we can weave our future together with it.
Forwards together, for a living world.
Kinward films have so far been selected for film festivals, featured on BBC Radio 6 music, and received thousands of views online. You can watch the ongoing series on YouTube and follow updates on Instragram.
From the magic of mushroom foraging, to the power of talking to strangers, these short documentaries nurture the perspective that we are all related to each other, and all intimately connected to the rest of the natural world - a simple but vital foundation to tackling many issues today.
Margaret Bradshaw (above) is 98-year-old botanist from Teesdale, in County Durham - and a force of nature. In ‘An Eye For Plants’, the first short in the series, she guides us through the unique flora of her home region, urging us to pay closer attention to the plants just beneath our feet.
Dave Goulson (right / below) has spent over thirty years studying insects in the UK, specialising in bumblebees. He explains how growing spaces, from window boxes to bigger gardens, offer huge potential to bring wildlife-friendly habitats back and boost nature across the country.
